Horizons Edge Sports Campus recognizes that sports engender strong passion in players, spectators, and coaches. The success of our community hinges on the respectful and safe conduct of all guests. In order to maintain our premier place to play, Horizons Edge visitors will be held to the following disciplinary rules and actions.
ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
Horizons Edge Sports Campus has zero tolerance for any type of comment that is deemed to be “hate speech”. Any individual heard using an ethnic or racial slur or derogatory term will be suspended for at least one year, without exception. Horizons Edge Sports Leagues are meant to be a community of respect open for all people to come together, have fun, and play sports. This written policy serves as the only warning given regarding this topic.
Coaches are reminded that they are responsible for the conduct of their team, spectators, and children before, during, and after the games. This includes unsportsmanlike remarks, gestures, or comments, as well as the monitoring of children for their safety. Removal of spectators from the premises, as well as suspension from their ability to return, may be enforced. Additionally, any act of vandalism, threats, and direct physical contact toward any game official constitutes liability for prosecution.
Any player, coach, or spectator who displays “Outrageous Conduct”, such as, but not limited to: unsportsmanlike behavior; verbal tirades; foul or abusive language; gestures or threats towards others; physical contact with any other player, spectator, official, or Edge Team Member; throwing, kicking, or striking of objects in a threatening or dangerous manner; or theft of property.
Conduct deemed outrageous also includes harassing behavior such as following another player, spectator, official, or Edge Team Member off the field or court, into the parking lot, or off the premises, or any attempt to block the departure of other players, spectators, officials, or Edge Team Members from their departure. Such conduct may result in a suspension for a full calendar year or longer and possible criminal prosecution.
If police are called to respond to the conduct displayed, the ejected player will be suspended for the entire season from all Horizons Edge Sports Leagues effective immediately. If the season has progressed four (4) or more weeks, the player will also be suspended from the following season.
No player or manager shall at any time, lay a hand upon, shove, strike, or threaten an official, Edge Team Member, other player, or spectator. Should a player take one of these actions, said player will be ejected from the game and will not be permitted to return to the league for the remainder of the season, or longer if deemed reasonable based on the severity of the incident. Please be advised that displaying behavior deemed as “Physical Assault” could result in criminal prosecution.
IN GAME CONDUCT – RED CARDS / TECHNICAL FOULS
Players receiving a red card, a “soft” red card, a technical foul, or other removal from play related to unsportsmanlike conduct in a game will not be permitted to play the remainder of that game. In soccer, the player’s team will continue a player down for the remainder of the game. Players receiving the removal will also be automatically suspended from the next one (1) game in the season.
Any player receiving two (2) disciplinary actions (technical fouls, red cards including soft red cards, etc.) within 3 games will be suspended from play for the next two (2) games of the season.
Players receiving 3 or more disciplinary actions will be removed from all adult league rosters at Horizons Edge for the remainder of the season, effective immediately. Prior to participation in the next season of any sport, the player must meet with Edge Leadership Team to discuss reinstatement.
If more than 50% of the team leave the bench during any play activity without the permission of the official (timeouts, etc.) the entire team will be suspended. If less than 50% leave the bench those found in violation will be suspended.
Any match/game that includes fighting or violent conduct will be abandoned immediately. The match/game will not be rescheduled or replayed, and the circumstances of the match/game will be reviewed by Edge Management for appropriate disciplinary actions.
Once a player is suspended, removed, or dismissed from the league, or a team is put on probation, the affected player or team may protest by submitting a written protest to the Adult Sports Coordinator for that League. The Coordinator will provide the request to the Horizons Edge Sports Department, who will name a protest committee to review the disciplinary action taken. The protest committee will review the conduct and the disciplinary action in question and render a ruling on the action which shall be final. If the protest is considered to be invalid, the suspension, removal dismissal, or probation status will stand. If a protest is determined valid, the protesting player or team will be reinstated.
